Join us for a Day of Fasting in solidarity for those observing Ramadan.
A group of us will be fasting on Friday 28 March, in solidarity with Muslims around the world who are observing Ramadan, especially those enduring great suffering through the harshness war, famine, and poverty. Ramadan offers Muslims ‘a complete spiritual reset’ - a space to connect with ourselves and our intentions whilst also developing empathy for others and a deeper connection with Allah. It is also a time for strengthening relationships within family and spiritual communities.
Please do join us. For those who wish to, there will also be an opportunity to join an online Iftar (breaking of the fast) at sunset. You’re welcome to join even if you’re not fasting. We will meet on Zoom from 6.15pm. The breaking of the fast will be at 18.27. You might like to do this symbolically with a date (traditionally Muslim) but you are also welcome to bring your evening meal. There will be time for sharing until 7.30 for those who can stay.
Please email admin@hols.org.uk for the Zoom link
We look forward to seeing you there.
During this period, Zakat (charitable giving) is also encouraged. Zakat is a central component of Ramadan and one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Whether or not you choose fast or join the Iftar you are, of course, welcome to donate. We would like to spotlight some charities for those wondering where to give:
Thanks to rehena, Renuka, Joe and Charlie for these recommendations.
